Public School Procedures on Ill Children

Just as many parents with young kids, sending them off and away to the classroom in the morning can be a task.  Making sure that the kids have their school books and are dressed adequately for the weather is very important.  But sending kids off to the classroom does have its drawbacks, including subjecting them to illnesses from other kids which are sick.

Sadly, a lot of moms and dads use school as a daycare service.  Come on mothers and fathers, if your kids are ill then please keep them home.  My children often acquire an upper respiratory infection that leads to an ear infection.  Fortunately, I have an otoscope that's ideal for examining the middle ear to determine if an ear infection exists.  If I see an ear infection, I naturally schedule an office visit with my kid's doctor without delay.

I firmly think that schools need to have a firm guideline preventing ill children from attending school.  Such a rule would minimize the distribution of viral infections and decrease the percentage of children that fall ill throughout the school year.  Though touting such recommendations have been appreciated by school board members, so far no actions have been accepted for public input.
